The Heidelberg district of Wieblingen is located in the west of the city on the left bank of the Neckar and has developed from a former farming village into a dynamic residential and working neighbourhood with a balanced social structure.
The centre is Elisabeth-von-Thadden-Platz, named after the reformist teacher and resistance fighter against National Socialism. The Heidelberg Waldorf School is located on the western edge of the town. Wieblingen is also home to the SRH with its technical colleges and the SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg, a vocational training centre and the Kurpfalzkrankenhaus Heidelberg. If the Neckarwiese in the city seems too crowded on a hot summer's day, you can head to the cosy Neckarwiese in Wieblingen to find a spot in the shade.
