Waldpark Mannheim
Beschreibung
The Mannheim Waldpark (Forest Park) is a floodplain forest and is located in the southwest of Mannheim, directly on the banks of the Rhine. It stretches from north to south along the districts of Lindenhof, Niederfeld and Neckarau.
The Waldpark is a landscape conservation area. This means that no major human intervention is allowed. It is also repeatedly flooded by the nearby Rhine. This is typical for a floodplain forest and leads to a great diversity of shrub and tree species.
Thanks to its many footpaths and proximity to the city, the Waldpark is a popular destination for excursions and recreation. You can also enjoy a picnic here because, alongside trees, the Waldpark has numerous meadows. In summer, the large shady trees and the moist freshness of the Rhine provide a pleasant climate. It’s the perfect place to escape the heat of the big city.
