The Heidelberg district of Pfaffengrund is a lively neighbourhood in the countryside with around 7,500 inhabitants.
The high proportion of green spaces and its architectural structure contribute to the high quality of living in the south of the district. The north, on the other hand, is characterised by Heidelberg's largest commercial area with around 170 businesses. Due to its recent history, Pfaffengrund does not have any "cultural monuments" like the city centre of Heidelberg. Nevertheless, the terraced houses with large gardens, which were built according to the garden city concept and are still popular today, as well as the extensive green spaces such as the "Josef-Amann-Anlage", "Am Kranichweg" and "Im Heimgarten" and the allotment gardens are worth seeing. There is also the energy and future storage centre in Pfaffengrund. Like an oversized thermos flask, it stores district heating water and makes it available again exactly when it is needed for heating.
