Beschreibung
The geological and nature trail around the Schilfsandstein quarry nature reserve at the Jägerhaus in Heilbronn invites you to immerse yourself in the world of rock strata, rare plant species and the multifaceted cultural history of this unique geotope. On the approx. 4 km long circular trail, you can experience the climate and landscape history of around five million years ago.
The geological and nature trail was completely redesigned in 2020 and completely renewed in terms of material and content. The stations are designed with children in mind and are therefore ideal for the next family trip.
Schilfsandstein nature reserve
The reed sandstone quarry was the most important quarry in Württemberg and provided valuable building material for over half a millennium - even beyond the city limits of Heilbronn. Today it is a valuable habitat for the local flora and fauna and is specially protected as a natural and cultural-historical area.
