Friedhof Villingen
Villingen's cemetery has been used as a burial ground for over 1000 years. The tower of the former old town church in the cemetery is the oldest building in the town and is a listed building.
Beschreibung
After several renovations to the church, the current church hall, which is used as a funeral parlour, was built in 1855. This was followed by several extensions to the cemetery, the last major extension in 1965.
From 1969 to 1971, there were fundamental remodelling measures, the construction of a new waiting hall and additional laying-out rooms and the redesign of the entrance area of the cemetery with administration building and flower shop. The most recent construction is the old town spring fountain, which was inaugurated in November 2001.
The Villingen cemetery covers an area of 10.5 hectares. Approximately 150 burials and 320 urn burials are carried out every year.
