The forest Heath natural monument - a woodless plateau with a unique heath landscape and rare wildflowers - is a popular local recreation destination.
This natural monument with rare plant species is located three kilometers east of Heilbronn's city center.
Only a few remnants in the heath and meadow landscape are reminiscent of its former use as a fortress-like missile launch base for Pershing II medium-range missiles by the US Army after the Second World War.
The entire area has been renaturalized and is protected from scrub encroachment by grazing. Due to the approx. 4.5 hectares of heathland vegetation, the forest heath was designated a natural monument in 1994.
