Fairytale lake Wendelsheim
An impenetrable green layer of duckweed covers the fairytale lake on the Pfaffenberg near Wendelsheim all year round. The romantic body of water in a small wooded area owes its origins to a quarry that existed here until 40 years ago.
Beschreibung
Fine-grained reed sandstone was extracted from the quarry, which was ideal for building. Geologists explain the origin of the reed sandstone with a large river system that flowed through Europe more than 200 million years ago and formed a primeval sea in today's Alpine region. One of the arms of the river flowed along the edge of the Schönbuch where Pfaffenberg and Heuberg are located today.
Orientation: The Pfaffenberg is located six kilometers northeast of Rottenburg. The easiest way to reach the wooded mountain is from the parking lot at the Wendelsheim elementary school.
