Beschreibung
A “contemporary witness” in historical costume will whisk you away to an era of splendour and opulence. The baroque buildings of the Electors’ city of residence provide the backdrop for all kinds of interesting facts and amusing anecdotes about court life and the world view in the 17th and 18th centuries. Europe’s second largest palace complex demonstrates the significance of Mannheim at the time of the Electors, while the Bretzenheim Palace on the opposite side of the road is among the city’s most important historical buildings of the city’s nobility and can tell tales of many a love story. The unusual Jesuit church was once among the most important baroque churches in south-western Germany, while Mannheim’s observatory highlights the desire for enlightenment – which was also championed by the Electors.
