Zwingenberg Castle
Zwingenberg Castle is located almost exactly between Heidelberg and Heilbronn in the middle of the Neckar Valley.
The very well-preserved castle complex is probably one of the most impressive fortresses in the Neckar Valley and has been in the possession of the Margravial Baden family since 1808.
Beschreibung
The best view of the castle is from the opposite side of the Neckar or from on board one of the Neckar excursion boats.
The romantic Wolfsschlucht gorge begins just behind the castle, inviting you to take a relaxing short hike. The last wolf in the Odenwald was shot near the Wolf Gorge in 1866. The gorge is a paradise for every hiker.
The castle festival takes place every summer. According to legend, the composer Carl Maria von Weber himself knew the Wolf Gorge and was inspired to write his work here.
