The newly erected wine information pavilion - another vantage point in Besigheim that provides information on the special local topics of viticulture.
The aim was to incorporate the local conditions and formal language of the building site and integrate them into the design of the new structure; this was to ‘grow out’ of the ground, as it were.
The intervention in the existing dry stone walls was to be minimised - the visitor level floats above the existing walls. For landscape protection reasons, no reflective materials were to be used. The choice therefore fell on earthy Corten steel, which also offers an analogy to the adjacent railway line.
The parapets are provided with vertical openings in the style of the neighbouring vines. The steel tubes define two spaces which, despite a non-permissible roof, create an interior area and thus a view ‘outwards’ into the landscape and towards Besigheim.
