Wegbeschreibung
To start the hike through the Hedelfinger vineyards, choose the path that turns right and runs parallel to the road for a few meters. After crossing the Dürrbach stream, the route climbs uphill. At a hairpin bend, follow the path to the right. On the right, you can see the striking white tower of the Catholic church in Rohracker, with Sillenbuch on the hills above. On the left you will see a particularly beautiful winegrower's house - the sandstone walls and wooden structure are typical. Passing vineyards on steep slopes, you finally come to a crossroads and keep right. After a few hundred meters, you will pass the garden of the Hedelfingen fruit and horticultural association. Particularly interesting: from native vineyard peaches to Mediterranean cacti, there are all kinds of useful and ornamental plants to admire on the grounds. Take your time! A few minutes later, you will reach the land consolidation monument with the stone coat of arms of Hedelfingen. Take a short break and enjoy the view down to the Neckar, up to the Stuttgart television tower and the Frauenkopf! Then continue straight ahead.
At the next two forks, turn left and then right and you will soon reach the Lenzenberg viewpoint (the so-called “Schützenhäusle”). On a clear day, the magnificent view stretches as far as the Swabian Alb. Below you, the Neckar meanders through the Neckar valley. On the other side of the Neckar, you can see the Rotenberg Sepulchral Chapel and Stuttgart's harbor area. Following the bend in the path to the right, you return to the land consolidation monument, where you turn left downhill.
Now it is worth taking a detour straight ahead into the center of Hedelfingen. After crossing RohrackerstraĂźe, you come to Heumadener StraĂźe, where you will see the Hedelfinger Kelter on the right after a few meters: a sturdy building that was built at the beginning of the 17th century.
At the end of Heumadener Straße, you will find a fruit and vegetable store and a small museum in a pretty, faithfully renovated half-timbered house. The district town hall opposite has a very special ornament above its large gate, a sculpture in the shape of a pear, the “Hedelfinger Knausbira”.
We return to the circular hiking trail. The route continues slightly uphill through the vineyards above RohrackerstraĂźe. After the path bends to the right, you come to a vineyard site with old terraces. Here on the Haumeisterklinge, better known as the Pfaffenklinge, you will find the steepest vineyards of the Hedelfinger winegrowers in the sunniest southern exposure. Between the vines are some particularly beautiful typical winegrowers' cottages.Â
The path now climbs briefly - the vines give way to fruit trees and gardens - and then immediately leads steeply downhill again. At the next crossroads, turn left and walk past the EngenbergbrĂĽnnele spring. The second path on the left after the spring takes you back to the starting point of the hike.
