Toilettenhäuschen "les toilettes" Plochingen
Beschreibung
The toilet house "les toilettes", designed by the famous Alsatian graphic artist, illustrator, author and satirist Tomi Ungerer, was inaugurated on September 15, 2007.
It is centrally located in the city center, between Marktplatz and Schorndorfer Straße, directly on the pedestrian zone and barely a stone's throw away from Friedensreich Hundertwasser's "Rain Tower" - Tomi Ungerer's colorful response to Hundertwasser's architecture.
The cube of the building glows in vibrant colors, dominated by shades of green and pink. Mythical creatures cavort on the walls: a frog on one side and a dragon on the other. At the top, the building ends in a decorative frieze of stylized toilet seats. These can also be found on the almost Art Nouveau-style entrance sides. The painterly element, which characterizes the children's book author and illustrator Ungerer, is in the foreground. The fairytale-like appearance of his building is intended to appeal to children in particular.
The little house is surrounded by a water basin and is accessible via small footbridges. With this building, Plochingen has not only been enriched by an attraction - it can also easily meet completely human needs.
