Steinhaus
Built in 1507 as the hospital's new storehouse
Beschreibung
The imposing stone house with its striking stepped gables in Hirschgasse is so skilfully positioned on the spur of the Schütteberg that this storage building can be reached on two floors at ground level. The stone building, whose supporting structure of huge oak beams rests on large vaulted cellars, was built in 1507 as a new storehouse by the Hospital of the Holy Spirit and served the hospital economy as a warehouse and fruit store. The Catholic parish converted the stone house into a community centre in 1972/74, which houses the Hermann Hesse College, among other things.
