Beschreibung
The Obrigheim local history museum has been in existence since October 2005. The owner of the building at Hauptstraße 55 (near the Obrigheim-West exit) is the municipality of Obrigheim, which inherited the two-storey half-timbered house “Dorn” at Hauptstraße 55 with the adjacent shed from the last owner, Else Dorn, in 2003.
Her legacy obliged the municipality to set up a local history museum. The local authority first had the trees on the property cut down, the roofs renovated and the woodwork and brickwork painted.
The Obrigheim local history association, founded in 1997, took on the task of restoring the interior of the residential building from 1910 and its outbuildings, which was in urgent need of renovation, redesigning the courtyard and setting up a local history museum.
In order to restore the rooms and staircase of the 100-year-old house to their original condition as far as possible and to recreate the bourgeois living culture of 1910
