Neckarwiese (Riverfront Park)
The Neckarwiese in Heidelberg is a spacious green area right by the river and a popular meeting place for relaxing, picnicking and exercising. With a view of the old town and castle, it offers an idyllic riverside atmosphere.
The Riverfront Park in Heidelberg offers an ideal space for recreation, games, sports, and fun.
Children have fun on the playgrounds, others stroll across the meadow and paths, and some play volleyball or sunbathe. The 5-hectare area of the Neckar meadow offers space for thousands of visitors.
Picturesquely situated on the riverbank, visitors can enjoy a wonderful view of the Old Town and the castle from here. Walkers stroll along the chestnut avenue at the edge - an extension of the path in the direction of Schwabenheimer Schleuse or Ziegelhausen - and enjoy taking a break.
The water playground at the DLRG lifesaving station is a popular meeting place for families, as is the skateboard facility at the Ernst Walz Bridge for sports enthusiasts.
The pedal boat rental also offers the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of the water.
The castle illumination with fireworks, which takes place twice a year, can also be enjoyed particularly well from the Neckar Riverfront Park.
