Hölderlinhaus Nürtingen
Beschreibung
The Hölderlinhaus combines history, education and culture under one roof: the Nürtingen Adult Education Center and the Music and Youth Art School are based here.
In the former living quarters of the Hölderlin-Gok family, the permanent exhibition "Hölderlin's Educational Paths and Nürtingen" combines the history of the house with its current function as a place of education. The central importance of learning and teaching for Hölderlin creates a thematic bridge to the building's current function as an adult education center: Hölderlin's own educational path began at the Nürtingen Latin School; after Nürtingen he wrote letters to his brother Karl, who, unlike himself, was not allowed to study, about education and learning; from here he took up his position as tutor in the Gontard house in Frankfurt am Main and met his great love, Susette Gontard, who lives on as Diotima in the Bildungsroman 'Hyperion' and in the poems.
The oldest part of the building - Gokʼs cellar - now provides an atmospheric space for events.
