Hirschhorn Castle
The well-preserved medieval Hirschhorn castle complex from the 12th century lies high above the romantic Neckar valley.
Beschreibung
For 400 years, the knights of Hirschhorn lived there, who were not only brave fighters, but also good merchants and achieved wealth and prosperity. With the economic and political rise of the Lords of Hirschhorn in the 14th century, the castle complex was also expanded and extended.
It was given its final form by a Renaissance-style castle conversion at the end of the 16th century. The castle, built largely of sandstone, was spared major systematic destruction in modern times and is therefore in a very good state of preservation today. From the castle and castle tower, you have a fantastic view of the Neckar valley and the Neckar loop.
The historic old town nestles picturesquely against the hillside, protected by the mighty castle walls and surrounded by the hills of the Odenwald. The charm of times long past can still be felt here. The history of the castle can be read from the castle walls.
