Grafsches Haus Plochingen
Beschreibung
The Grafsche Haus on the upper market square was built in 1604 by the mayor Hieronimus Buntz as a residence.
He commissioned the famous master carpenter Hans Peltin to do the carpentry work, who created his most beautiful half-timbered house in Plochingen here. The half-timbered beams are decorated with motifs in bas-relief, for example the central post of the upper attic floor shows a classic Renaissance motif, a tree of life growing out of a Roman amphora. The builder Hieronimus Buntz has immortalized himself on the right-hand corner beam. The stone carving of the Renaissance portal by Michael Krell is also remarkable.
Beneath the building is a large vaulted cellar of the former wine cellar.
