Four-castle town of Neckarsteinach
In the immediate vicinity of the town of Neckarsteinach, 4 magnificent castles rise up on the ridge in the Neckar valley.
Beschreibung
Neckarsteinach is affectionately known as the town of four castles. The origin of the name is no coincidence: the four castles rise magnificently on the mountain ridges in the immediate vicinity of the town.
Starting with the Vorderburg, the Mittelburg, the Hinterburg and finally Schadeck Castle, which is also known as the Swallow's Nest and is the youngest of the four castles. All the castles were built in the 12th and 13th centuries.
The Hinterburg and Schadeck Castle can be visited at any time and are always worth a hike. From the castles you have a magnificent view of the Neckar valley. The Vorderburg and Mittelburg castles are privately owned and cannot be visited.
Neckarsteinach and its four castles take visitors back to the Middle Ages and are definitely worth a visit.
On the last Saturday in July, the “Day of the Guest” takes place with the four castles illuminated.
