Dominikanerinnenkloster
1261 to 1806 Convent of the Dominican nuns
Beschreibung
The Dominican convent in Horb was first mentioned in a document in 1261. The convent building was completely destroyed in the great town fire of 1725 and rebuilt as a three-winged complex in 1726/27. The monastery chapel with the crypt underneath was located in the east wing of the monastery. The image of the Horber Dominican nuns, a Pietà from around 1430, can be seen today in the chapel of the Ita von Toggenburg nursing home. In 1806, the Dominican nunnery was abolished by the King of Württemberg and became the seat of the local administration. Today, the building houses the Freudenstadt tax office and the Horber town archives.
