Visible from afar
The proud mountain fortress of Dilsberg stands on the mountain of the same name
in the Neckar valley. From the mountain walls, there is a fantastic view
view over the Neckar and the Odenwald.
The castle ruins were built in the 12th century and, following partial restoration, are now an attraction for young and old alike.
The highlight of the complex is the underground
well tunnel. This can be visited from May to September, because
the bats that live in the almost 80-metre-long tunnel have flown the nest,
the almost 80-metre-long underground passage carved into the red sandstone rock.
hibernation.
It is also idyllic to take a walk through the
historic town center within the fortress walls with its picturesque
picturesque houses and winding alleyways. Information on guided tours
can be obtained from the Neckargemünd Tourist Information Office (Tel.: 06223-3553, e-mail: info@tourismus-neckargemuend.de)
