The Block Tower in NĂĽrtingen is the remains of the medieval town fortifications.
The name refers to the prison it once housed: people used to be put in the "block" here as punishment. The block tower secured the south-eastern corner of the town wall, which was first mentioned in 1354. The dark dungeon with only one opening in the ceiling is still preserved today.
The block tower can be visited in conjunction with a guided tour of the town.
