Bahnhof Schwenningen
Schwenningen railway station is centrally located near the former state garden show grounds. It is an important transport hub in south-west Germany and part of the Rottweil-Villingen railway line.
Beschreibung
The railway station was opened in 1869. However, the station building was not completed until three years later. A goods shed and a historic signal box are also part of the station complex. The latter is located in the immediate vicinity of the Neckar and was once used to set points using mechanical levers.
The railway station was instrumental in Schwenningen's development from a village to an industrial town. The watchmaking industry attracted workers from all over the region, and a railway station was essential for their journey.
