Germany's most contrasting river cycle path lives up to its promise
Stuttgart is the state capital. An industrial location, global companies have their headquarters here. But behind the factory halls and harbor docks, the old village life goes on. Rustic wine villages, the picturesque burial chapel on the Rotenberg, two worlds with only a few kilometers between them.
The Neckar valley is full of contrasts.
It is not without reason that the cycle route has the reputation of being the most varied in the whole of Germany. Technology and tradition are united here in the smallest of spaces, nature and culture are in a joyful dialog. The renaturalized meadows of the Zugwiesen in Ludwigsburg, the Blue Tower of the Staufer town of Bad Wimpfen, old half-timbered towns such as Besigheim, the student pubs in Alt-Heidelberg, the Swabian broom taverns in the middle of the vineyards.
City, country, river - and plenty of each. If you wanted to create a themed folder for this landscape, it would probably have dozens of subjects.
